1,000 Hours of Public Service in 2016 Campaign |
“Step Up” by Volunteering
The time is NOW to commit to making a difference in the Omaha community!
The value of having a strong volunteer spirit in the legal community cannot be overstated, and the Omaha Bar Association had an ambitious plan to gather volunteer commitments of 1,000 hours of community service in 2016. To reach that goal, we needed your commitment to participate in the community service opportunities below. By the end of 2016, we had gathered over 2300 hours committed to volunteering!
2016 may have ended, but we aren't done shining a light on volunteerism on our community. Please indicate which activities you want to participate in, and, if necessary, contact the appropriate person to get started. Additionally, please list the volunteer work you already do so that we can recognize all of the efforts of our members in the Omaha community!

STOP HUNGER NOW MEAL PACKAGING EVENT: On behalf of the Omaha Bar Association, I want to give a special thank you to all the volunteers who spent Friday, September 23, 2016 packaging meals as part of the OBA Young Lawyers Division public service project. Because of their efforts, we were able to package 10,152 meals in less than two hours. Those meals were shipped to a part of the world stricken by famine, and will be distributed to schools and orphanages to feed malnourished children. It's inspiring to see so many in our legal community "step up" and volunteer their time and services. The positive impact is tremendous, and it's part of what makes our community great. Thank you for all the good you continue to do. Dave Sommers THANK YOU TO OUR MEAL PACKAGING EVENT VOLUNTEERS
