|Supporters of the OBA|
The Omaha Bar Association enjoys a close working relationship with many different organizations throughout the community and state. The support of these partners is vital to the success and strength of Bar. For more information on how to become a Supporter or Sponsor, click HERE.
The OBA is grateful to all the support given by the following:
The OBA includes a student liaison from UNL College of Law in its Young Lawyers Division leadership and enjoys many law student members attending the events throughout the year.
In addition to encouraging all OBA members to also be members of the NSBA, we support events hosted by them, including the reception for the judiciary, "In Honor of Your Honors", and present a CLE put on by our Young Lawyers Division at the Annual Meeting in October. The OBA supports the many efforts of the State Bar, including the Douglas County Self-Help Desk at the Douglas County Courthouse.
Hundreds of people each year contact the OBA in search of free legal assistance, and we direct them to the Legal Aid of Nebraska. Additionally, we support and work to coordinate attorney volunteers for Legal Aid programs, such as the Disaster Relief Project.
The OBA works with the Omaha Law League to support their annual event that raises money to be used to give 4th graders across Omaha tours of the Douglas County Courthouse.
The OBA receives a great deal of assistance from OLPA members throughout the year at various events. Additionally, OLPA puts on an essay contest at the annual Law Day Lunch, engaging local 5th graders in the American Bar Association's Law Day topic.
NePA puts on a poster contest at the annual Law Day Lunch, engaging local grade school students in the American Bar Association's Law Day topic. The winning poster is prominently displayed on a billboard during the month of April each year.
The Omaha Bar Association is a supporter of the ABA, its resources, and events. Each year the leadership of the OBA attend ABA events around the country.
The Daily Record is a close partner of the OBA, sponsoring events throughout the year and promoting the OBA events and members in their publication.
The OBA and Metro Omaha Medical Society annual hold a joint membership meeting, and work to promote positive connections and relationships between the professions.
Sarpy County Bar Association
The OBA supports the various events that the Sarpy County Bar Association puts on each year, and in 2014 co-hosted a Bench Bar Conference to discuss best practices in the two jurisdictions.
Omaha Barristers Club
The OBA enjoys a cordial and supportive relationship with the Omaha Barristers Club, an unincorporated loose affiliation of attorneys under the age of 40 that are keen on letting loose and having fun. Best known for the Christmas Show skits, annual Steak Fry, and Softball games against the Douglas County Attorney's Office, the Club has been in existence since 1960 and appreciates funding and support from The Daily Record. Many leaders in the OBA have also been presidents of the Barristers. The full list of leaders can be found HERE.
