Your first initial consultation with a lawyer through the Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) will help you determine if you need to hire a lawyer. Once the LRS determines the area of practice needed, an appointment is made for you, so that you meet directly with a lawyer who has indicated their area of practice. The lawyers will charge $40.00 for the initial thirty-minute consultation except for initial consultations involving Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury or Social Security Disability for which no fee is charged. All fees are paid directly to the lawyers. There is no fee charged by the LRS for referral.

 Please use your consulation wisely and prepare all your questions in advance to make sure that you cover all your concerns. Please take any important documents with you to your appointment . Once you have had your initial consultation should you decide to retain the lawyer, you will be expected to pay the lawyer his/her normal and customary fees. If you are submitting a request for referral and you live outside of Nebraska a designated time for a phone consultation will be set.

The Lawyer Referral Service is designed to serve anyone who can afford the services of a lawyer. Persons who cannot afford a lawyer will be given the resource numbers of other services that provide legal services by income. The Lawyer Referral Service does not employ lawyers, nor does it have lawyers on staff to answer legal questions or provide legal advice.   The information contained on this web site is intended to assist the public in understanding the referral services provided by the Lawyer Referral Service.   The Lawyer Referral Service makes no representations or warranties concerning the legal advice provided by attorneys to whom referrals are made.   The decision concerning whether or not to retain a lawyer, or to retain any particular lawyer, is solely the responsibility of the client.
